Simply Swimwear & Lingerie

Shopping for swimwear can be a surprisingly tricky task. With so many different styles to choose from, it’s hard to even know where to start.

Your perfect swimsuit is out there. It fits you well, looks great on you, and helps you feel confident and capable. Keep reading to learn how to find it.

General Tips

First, let’s go over a few tips that apply to all swimsuit styles.

  • Our rule of thumb for all swimwear is to ensure a snug, but comfortable fit. A good fit and support in the bust and no loose or sagging material in the body of the suit.
  • Bustier women benefit from suits with built-in cups (yes, they exist!). These pieces work just like your standard bra, offering lift and support to keep you comfortable and prevent embarrassing slips. Most have an underwire, but some brands use features like molded foam cups instead.
  • If you fall in love with a suit that shows more skin than you’re usually comfortable with, pair it with a stylish coverup. You can take it on and off throughout the day as needed.

Choosing a Swimsuit Style

Now, let’s talk about the three main types of swimsuits on the market and what makes each of them special.

One-Piece Swimsuits

One-piece swimsuits offer the most coverage of the three. They’re known for their ability to hide and smooth your midsection, but they also work well for swimmers interested in more modest styles.

Because they’ve got much more fabric to work with than your typical two-piece, you’ve got room to have fun with the details. Splashy prints, asymmetrical necklines, cutout details, and metal accents all add visual interest to your suit and make it feel more personal.

If you’re looking for even more coverage, swimdresses are a good option. These one-piece suits extend down the legs into a flowing skirt, making the garment look like a skater dress or sundress. They’re classically feminine, cover quite a bit of skin, and can even be worn inconspicuously on your way to and from your swimming session.

Bikinis

Most of our bikinis are from swim brands that focus on structure, including some bra companies that make bra sized swimwear for a more specific fit and can accommodate a variety of cup sizes and band sizes.

If tummy control is a concern, look for a bikini with high-waisted bottoms. These versions offer some extra compression around the middle, smoothing out areas you’re self-conscious about while keeping the two-piece look intact.

Want to cover a bit more of your thighs? Skirt and short bottoms are your best friends. Short bottoms are also great for active swimmers, allowing you to flex and bend without worrying about potential wardrobe malfunctions.

Tankinis

Still on the fence? Try tankinis. Tankini tops are modeled after tank tops, providing full torso coverage with the mix-and-match styling potential of separates.

These suits are great for ladies who want a balance of style and function. You can move freely knowing your midsection is covered, and you can pair the top with different bottoms to change up your look as needed.
